Snaky 1.2

Snaky fully coloured. has been edited from before...

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Hey guys, this is an idea for an Eninroth loading screen and need Josh's approval before doing the final finish/polish and make it all pretty and everything.

The idea is basically my own interpretation of what the Neth Tree would look like. It's unfinished but this is basically what the "skeleton" or outlines of the tree would look like. Then I'll add bright blue flouresent hues to it and make it all glow and everything and then add tiny details here and there such as moss or something on there and mushrooms or whatever. I'm going to endeavor for a more professional look (which means using my artistic ability to the fullest, lol) when I get the go-ahead.

The branches are basically gonna look crystaline and everything.
To get a basic idea of how the final product, I did a test run with it and this is how it turned out:

Soul Dwasp Part IV: Cross Plains

Just some quick documentation of the Soul Dwasp before the ideas retire from my memory, never to be seen again, unless..they have a habit of playing hide and seek under the couch with my car keys, in which case I'll be using them to put my concepts into ignition.

The Bhullito

A new concept called the Bhullito. The name came from a bull, a hippo, and the fact i like burritos. The influence came from a bull and a hippo.

The Bhullito does not charge like a bull, unless you steal its food. Its a docile creature, with a thick outer layer of skin that protects it from the cold elements. it likes to crouch in the snow and sleep most of the day, and feeds on bark and leaves when it can. It has adapted from swimming in mud to using its blubber to protect against snow and ice.

While it looks intimidating, this is just a front it creates so predators don't try to eat it. Its about the same size as a hippo, and icey looking in texture.

Below are some combinations of animals/features i tried before creating the bhullito.

Soul Dwasp

The Soul Dwasp is just my imagination's attempt to recreate bits and pieces of a dream it had the night before with a primary school glue stick. It really has no resemblance to any Australian animal thus far. I found it boring to stick within the boundaries of the Australian theme, and easier to let my mind be free and outside of the figuratively real box, without anything to conform to. So now that I've let my mind spew its soul all over the canvas to its hearts content, i can move on to painting the Australian theme all over it. Any ideas on which Australian animals could be combined? my mind is feeling pretty drained at the moment and left to stew within its own juices, so it would be nice to see the collaborative thoughts of one another.

Thoughts can only go so far when puts to words, but the thoughts themselves are limitless, so when you do find a way to describe a unique thought with a series of words, you find yourself with it compelling to create an action beyond all movements of physical reference and returning back to the mind seeking redemption.

The Soul Dwasp if anything shares the traits of a hummingbird in its movements. Hovering over everything with immense speed and precision. Its agile like qualities allow it to move gracefully in all directions, rotating within the air vertically and horizontally. Building enough speed will allow it to look like a blur of sharp wind. From the back it also has a tail tucked up the back with a poisonous barb that it can shoot from its body like a dagger. The Soul Dwasps are incredibly playfull and innocent looking, though definitely not to be underestimated. They are attracted to energy sources of any sort and kindhearted people and thus are the guardians of their ruins.

Utowala: Part III

Ok so basically since the last time this was posted, it was very rough. I've cleaned it up now :] no sketchy edges from the snap left on. I've also done my best to add a chest in there, like Josh wanted. Josh thoughts on it? did you want any more improvements?
I'll be working on it also in a range of different colours for you lot to pick out of the bunch. Everyone, comment, keep the fresh blood going :p

3 snake like picture that i have drawn.

1: Giant snake (comes up to a humans neck when head is up) that needs to eat bigger food so it can get enough energy to stay alive.

2: Snake with dragon like features that has the same concept as the Snake.

3: A dinosaur with a snake like head that is a metre tall, likes to eat Squirrels that run around everywhere.

Final map

Ok after carful deliberation and planning we have agreed on a map it is a combination of map1 and map 3

the whiter mountains are the highest. The black lines are contour lines they show different heights and mountain forms, and the brown lines show the path you can follow through out the game.

Maps, Maps, Maps

Here are my three map ideas each with its own description post what you think as we will be using one of thses as a map for our game.
Map1
You begin in the lower foothills and as you progress throughout the stage you begin to ascend. For this map the main quest hub is the glacier the good neth have carved out there home within it. The Bad neth live in and around the range of despair which is where you will eventually find the old one the rest of the mountains is a place for minor quests.
Map 2
In this map a large valley and glacier divide the two tribes. Both towns ovelook the valley below aswell as the glacier. the glacier is the main conflict zone for both tribes as it is the onyl way they can get to either side of the mountain range also you can reach the edge of the glacier and look out on the valley below
Map 3
Again both tribes are seperated this time by a giant bottomless pit called "The Fissure", and a massive mountain called "Heavens Peak" the only way across is a giant bridge called the crystal span. The crystal basin is the collection of the mountians two major rivers that flow from both towns.

armor mark I, II and III

The armor i intend for William should have a basic material on it nothing really fancy (except maybe some kind of symbols) but the armor design should hopefully say "im not typically human"

so here are all the designs i have so far
1) a "normal kind of texture that has many imperfections(dirt, scratches)
2) a more sinister look with a dark feel
3) a more "grandish" type with out all the scratches

open to *constructive* criticism if you think it needs some :D ooooor some suggestions for some more armor textures would be nice

Utowala: Part II

Ok, so this is the Utowala i was working on back a few weeks ago. Since we moved off from the topic of Animals and transitioned to plants revolving around the environment so bruskly, i thought it would only be kind enough to devote at least a little time back to the animals, to show they are not forgotten in their entirety as of yet.

As you can see, it is of course still in the '' Etch A Sketch and Magna Doodle days'' of its childhood. Though i am pleased with its development within the constraints of the tween era it has progressed to. Although it is nowhere near the final product of what it is to become, i hope in due time for it to ferment like fine wine.

It has changed a little since its original conception pictured to the left of the image, to a more muscular solid build of sorts. It will retain a lot of its weight though ( if not more ) due to it being a lot more powerfully built, so it will still keep most of its mannerisms and behavioral patterns. But is generally more aggressive than its predecessor before it which had a very passive and lazy nature, unless disturbed. Alternatively these could be two different breeds, possibly male and female breeds?as they have clear distinguishable attributes in hindsight.

Essentially this has been posted to keep all of our blogging junkie companions up to date, and to grasp a better understanding of what this animal represents by portraying its well deserved three dimensional edge in the standard two dimensions. We are now ''this much closer'' to our interactive environment.

Any questions? Thoughts so far? I implore you to think creatively outside the basis of reality and by which its terms purposly walk, to capture another angle and perspective to any of anyone's ideas here, to help improve us and adapt our perceptions which move us forward by taking a good look in all directions.

Concepts that I've been doing for the past few weeks. I've been lax with my posting since I have a habit of never showing other people things that I haven't finished because it makes people judge me and I don't want to be known as the "guy that never did things." =D

First concept was outlined by Salad Dressing and then I just turned it into a weird concept thingy. You may take inspiration from it, you never know.

Second one is another concept where we had to develop more fantasy plants and came up with this. It was inspired by a pot plant. Animals are caught by the vines that lay very still o nthe ground and when prey comes close, it snatches it up and puts it into its mouth.

Third concept is another doodle for environmental objects in alpine environment. It is a generic object that can be placed in ice caverns and whatnot.

Cross sheets is of a fern plant thingy that I have no idea what it does but I'm thinking that it'll be... food I think? "Corn" thingy can be eaten and is like a pineapple. Its juice can be used as natural preservative because of it's high acidity.

Last one is a concept of fantasy animals and it is covered in spikes with a long blunt beak. Mix between an echidna and an eagle. I call it the Eagidna. Awesome name, I know. Thanks, your praise means a lot to me, and yes, I will finish it eventually in a few days.

glow Mushroom

this is the glow mushroom that lives in caves and lights the path as you get closer to them
the guy is for perspective

Friendly Tree

Don't be too judgemental. In this, my imagination was limited by my skills within 3dsmax, and since i am relatively foreign with the program, it's no wonder my design is fairly basic looking so far. I would have also liked to have given an in depth description of my tree but within the realms of 3dsmax...for now it is just safer to not go too complex! and lose track altogether.
Instead, this tree (if anything) will be more for decoration and ornamental purposes, as opposed to being an interaction with the player. I'm also pleased that although, so far the tree may not suit the environment colour-wise (which will be changed) it will make a great furture reference for my models to come.

Spiekoya Plant

This is a model sheet for the Spiekoya plant. Its like a landmine crossed with a spiky fruit. I got the idea from the Soncoya fruit.

It has 3 stages of development;

1; A standard spiky fruit, sits half-covered in the snow/grass like a landmine. If you step on it, it explodes and you receive blast damage.

2; Stage two is stage 1 cut in half, with the core exposed to the elements. It still sits in the snow/grass, but if you step on it, it poisons you, which damages you over a period of time. It isn't as lethal as stage 1 because it is getting ready for the next stage, and is gathering nutrients.

3; The last stage of development of a single Spiekoya. It now spreads many vines out from the core, which within a period of time, the ends of the vines grow small versions of the Stage 1 plant. This stage is the most vulnerable of the 3, and gives you a lot less poison damage if you step on it. This is because it is sending nutrients to the new spiekoya plants.

Politikai superendus-New Plant

The Politikai superendus collects moisture and any forms of liquid from around itself, then evaporates, or boils the water or even causes sublimation upon ice left around, to create water vapor. The water vapor condenses into small droplets and ice crystals which eventually combine with billions of other droplets and crystals to form clouds and fog that shrouds the plant as a form of camouflage. The plant also releases an hallucinogenic gas which can mix with the fog and spread faster in a shorter period of time and cause you to become disoriented and distracted. People have been known to dwell peacefully for days in a hallucinatory state and lose themselves within the pale white mist, never to be seen again. Other than that, the plant is relatively harmless.

Comments?

Moon Flower

Luke Davis.
Moon Flowers that grows in cold wet areas near the mountains.

Heater

Liam Davis - Twin 1.
A plant like tree that provides a heating source for the people in the mountains, has a long body with a bowl like head the inside of it being hollow where the heat builds up.

Something to kill part 2

the big "Neth"(temp name) are the bad ones who are cannibals he also has a demonstration of the crystals on the back

during the quest to find the "old one" the player discovers that the "bad Neth" have held him captive as told to you by the "civil Neth" now it is then your mission to infiltrate their base and take free the old one but the "civil Neth" help you with this and as a price you must do them a favor(not yet know)

or...

on the filp side (if we have time) the player could make a deal for the "bad Neth" to assassinate the leader of the civil Neth in exchange for the relese of the "old one"
