Wiki Update

I'm working on updating the wiki with all the drawings and renders of all our artwork for eninroth.

Essentially what is featured is any artwork that was posted to the blog that i could find.

Its broken up into different categories so it's easier to navigate.

I'll create a page for programming, but ill only fill it with what i've seen or read.
Should include;
leveling system
quests
flying code

any extras just log in and edit the page.


Edit: Wiki has been completed to a better standard. All pictures i found on the blog are up in their own pages. Concept page added to, includes pictures describing the game. Programming page added with elements(to be added to by a programmer).

Soul Dwasp Part III



The Soul Dwasp is like a secret discrete guardian that watches over Eninroth, not much is known about it to the rest that dwell there. It is rarely seen, but always there. As it lingers like a timeless ghost with its seamless beauty throughout the silence of time. It shares the traits of a hummingbird in its movements. Hovering over everything with immense speed and precision, it looks as if it's floating rather than hovering. Its agile like qualities allow it to move gracefully in all directions, rotating within the air vertically and horizontally. Its heart is visible through transparent layers of skin as it is the flame and spark of Eninroth, a crystallized heart that was forged out of the past souls of Eninroth by the stars which symbolize the life and longevity of the land which makes it an extremely powerful and unique power source. Because of this, it is able to communicate with the environment and its surroundings.From the back it also has a tail tucked up the back with a barb like end that seems to excrete a fluid that can heal all wounds and remedy poisons and other injuries. The Soul Dwasp is incredibly playful, innocent looking,and seems very childish in nature, though definitely not to be underestimated as it is very wise and perceptive. They are attracted to energy sources of any sort and kindhearted people and thus are the guardians of their ruins.

My brief description of the Soul Dwasp is that i tried to attribute the positive aspects of shadows upon it, to maintain a welcoming and alluring appearance. I also tried to give it flames of shadows for the ears, for an interesting and unique look? ;]

All this is of course just an idea i have conjured up, tapping the wand three times upon my head. So it can be changed or altered to suit or fit into the game better. Any suggestions or ideas?

Finally some codes!

Finally.. I have gotten off my ass and done some codes..
yes thats right people, i actually have done what i was meant to do for once!


i have the arial AI almost complete minus the attacking, but i havent got word yet whether its necessary so i left it out

and i have the Altic Flying mount codes completed now! ::D some slight tweaking is still required though of course, Altic can now be added and mounted, you can fly around on its back and fire powerful wind bursts from altic's wings.

its pretty fun actually :P i took alot of pleasure in rampaging around the sky shooting at stuff, Oh i mean "Testing it's functionallity.." yep testing :P
next step is to get the lightning shot working ;)

Soul Dwasp Part II


Cs4 is trying to comit euthanasia with the help of the new computers, because it got terminal cancer from the old Crt screens. So because if this, Cs4 is continually crashing on me , alas i only got so far wih my animal, not as far as i had planned...

Anyway, i hope you enjoy the progress. I've adapted and changed it a little bit since the last time. The most apparent change is the heart at its chest, it is visible through transparent layers of skin. Though it is no ordinary heart, i am thinking of having its heart be inherited from the almighty Altic, and therefor is like a guardian of sorts. I'm thinking of it being the key or the missing link to e storyline Josh is creating, having it able to communicate with the whole envoronment via a telkenetic link because it shares the heart of the Altic. ( these are of course just my wild ideas that I'm suggesting )

Just rough Sharilla now with Dingo head

Sorry couldn't be there today, woke up with pains in my back, probably from just sleeping in an awkward spot but at the moment still feeling some pain.
Anyway though just rough drawing with a dingo style kind of head for my Sharilla, still working on model sheet of it, just taking some time because of the front view of its head.

Chrosh, Creature Concept

This is a Chrosh, a fast predator, it is based on Snow leopard, and Mountain leopard. It is a Omnivore. It uses it spikes as a defencive measure against other predator, and when it is hunting. :)

Magic Happens

I've been working on porting AFX to the latest version of the engine.

AFX is a special effects add-on for Torque that includes an implementation of a magic spell system.

There were a couple of difficulties. The terrain and lighting system has completely changed since the engine was upgraded from 1.8.1 to T3D, so I had to leave this stuff out. But it doesn't make that much of a difference. Most of the good stuff is working.

The Bhullito

A new concept called the Bhullito. The name came from a bull, a hippo, and the fact i like burritos. The influence came from a bull and a hippo.

The Bhullito does not charge like a bull, unless you steal its food. Its a docile creature, with a thick outer layer of skin that protects it from the cold elements. it likes to crouch in the snow and sleep most of the day, and feeds on bark and leaves when it can. It has adapted from swimming in mud to using its blubber to protect against snow and ice.

While it looks intimidating, this is just a front it creates so predators don't try to eat it. Its about the same size as a hippo, and icey looking in texture.

Altic, god of the winter skies

hey yow yows :)

i have an update on the fabulous Altic that keeps being mentioned, i figured ill show what i have so far,geometry is done, rigging just needs tweaking and textures also.

then further animations.

as everyone hopefully knows, Altic is the god of the neth, it created the crystal trees that supply the neth with their power. it also is the reason for the eternal winter, its presence is whats causing the freezing.

Altic is pretty scary looking unit, but in the game it serves as a guide, occasionally appearing and givving hints as to what to do.

kinda like the owl from the first zelda, but less irritating, more scary, it cant talk and more omnipotent.. :P

Soul Dwasp

The Soul Dwasp is just my imagination's attempt to recreate bits and pieces of a dream it had the night before with a primary school glue stick. It really has no resemblance to any Australian animal thus far. I found it boring to stick within the boundaries of the Australian theme, and easier to let my mind be free and outside of the figuratively real box, without anything to conform to. So now that I've let my mind spew its soul all over the canvas to its hearts content, i can move on to painting the Australian theme all over it. Any ideas on which Australian animals could be combined? my mind is feeling pretty drained at the moment and left to stew within its own juices, so it would be nice to see the collaborative thoughts of one another.

Thoughts can only go so far when puts to words, but the thoughts themselves are limitless, so when you do find a way to describe a unique thought with a series of words, you find yourself with it compelling to create an action beyond all movements of physical reference and returning back to the mind seeking redemption.

They are attracted to energy sources of any sort and kindhearted people and thus are the guardians of their ruins.

Crystal Tree Test

Pigeon/Turtle and Gorimu


Here's a bit of work from monday's class and some holiday work.

Pigeon/Turtle. Haven't thought of a good name just yet. Drawn here as a female and a male, these critters like to crawl up trees to get an idea of their whereabouts. They eat small rats, insects, worms and seeds. If needed , they can also retreat a little into the shell to protect from predators.



Gorimu. Cross between a Gorilla and an Emu. It can run as fast as an emu, but has the dexterity of a gorilla, even with its front claws. Eats small rodents, can disguise itself with snow to prey on unsuspecting victims.

Utowala: Part III


Ok so basically since the last time this was posted, it was very rough. I've cleaned it up now :] no sketchy edges from the snap left on. I've also done my best to add a chest in there, like Josh wanted. Josh thoughts on it? did you want any more improvements?
I'll be working on it also in a range of different colours for you lot to pick out of the bunch. Everyone, comment, keep the fresh blood going :p

Crocotoise Update

My update of the Crocotoise. I changed the tail so it is now smaller. This animal is an attacker and a defender. With its bite powerful enough to tear through flesh it can also go inside of it's shell to defend itself.
This is what happens once it retreats into its shell. There are quils on the reptiles back and as it goes inside it pushes it's back up against the inside of the shell allowing the quills to push through tiny holes on the shell.





A different version using thick spikes that are on the shell.

Sharilla Model Sheets

Twin 1 - Liam Davis


After getting a few suggestions on my sharilla in the end it didnt look like a creature that would roam around so i edited it to be more like a beast then a mole like figure with its head always down.
Also gave it some shoulder and a neck to make it more suitable for the environment.

I managed to draw up the front view for the sharilla but hopefully i'll get the rest drawn up by next monday





3 snake like picture that i have drawn.


1: Giant snake (comes up to a humans neck when head is up) that needs to eat bigger food so it can get enough energy to stay alive.

2: Snake with dragon like features that has the same concept as the Snake.

3: A dinosaur with a snake like head that is a metre tall, likes to eat Squirrels that run around everywhere.

Questing

As we all know questing is essential to all RPGs, and I have been given (I have taken more to the point) the honour of doing the quests. "Awesome!" You say I know "How can you possibly top your awesomely awesome leveling/stats and A* Pathfinding?" I don't know but rest assured that it will be done and hopefully done well.

Final map

Ok after carful deliberation and planning we have agreed on a map it is a combination of map1 and map 3


the whiter mountains are the highest. The black lines are contour lines they show different heights and mountain forms, and the brown lines show the path you can follow through out the game.

Frilla Neckasauras (Improvised Name)

Here is the Frilla Neckasauras which is half Dinosaur and half Frilled Neck Lizard.

Generic Tree 1


This is my finished Generic Tree, it is a simple tree that survives like any other tree, it gets its water from the runoff from the snow on the mountain, it is mainly found at the base of the mountain.

Maps, Maps, Maps

Here are my three map ideas each with its own description post what you think as we will be using one of thses as a map for our game.
Map1
You begin in the lower foothills and as you progress throughout the stage you begin to ascend. For this map the main quest hub is the glacier the good neth have carved out there home within it. The Bad neth live in and around the range of despair which is where you will eventually find the old one the rest of the mountains is a place for minor quests.
Map 2
In this map a large valley and glacier divide the two tribes. Both towns ovelook the valley below aswell as the glacier. the glacier is the main conflict zone for both tribes as it is the onyl way they can get to either side of the mountain range also you can reach the edge of the glacier and look out on the valley below
Map 3
Again both tribes are seperated this time by a giant bottomless pit called "The Fissure", and a massive mountain called "Heavens Peak" the only way across is a giant bridge called the crystal span. The crystal basin is the collection of the mountians two major rivers that flow from both towns.

Animal Drawing

Like Liam mentioned below, we both had a tough week with sorting some stuff out but I present a Crocotoise. The black dots on the shell are spikes, like you see go up on a crocodiles back, except the spikes are as strong as the shell, and sharp.
Any suggestions on whether it's okay, or not what where looking for is appreciated.

After doing a crap load of personal stuff this week i finally got a chance to draw up some animals, well only got two done because i got a bad weekend where i have work both days all day.

Got around to finishing this animal and decided to call it Sharilla instead of Sharkorilla, not sure on the details for this beast yet, hopefully get a few suggestions on Monday when we come back from holiday.This was completely random after i chugged down a can of monster, i call it frosty bee (kind of like honey bee) again haven't got really details on this just yet.

armor mark I, II and III

The armor i intend for William should have a basic material on it nothing really fancy (except maybe some kind of symbols) but the armor design should hopefully say "im not typically human"

so here are all the designs i have so far
1) a "normal kind of texture that has many imperfections(dirt,scratches)
2) a more sinister look with a dark feel
3) a more "grandish" type with out all the scratches









open to *constructive* criticism if you think it needs some :D ooooor some suggestions for some more armor textures would be nice
